The inspiring and creative worship at St. Paul’s equips our community to play an active role in the “Episcopal Branch of the Jesus Movement.” It gives us strength, courage, and joy to go out into the world and serve for Christ’s sake and the sake of our neighbors. St. Paul’s is excited to be living into a radical welcome for all people, members, and guests. In addition, we are currently reimagining our engagement with children and youth so that we serve our youngest members as well as we do our matures parishioners.
Sunday worship offers the most diverse occasions for praising God together as we celebrate the Holy Eucharist (also called Communion and the Lord’s Supper). We celebrate Holy Eucharist every Sunday EXCEPT the first Sunday of each month. On that Sunday we all gather together for First Sundays, Life Together at 9:30 am in all parish worship.
SUNDAYS: First Sunday after Labor Day to the Last Sunday in June (except for the first Sunday of each month)
Sundays at 8:00 am – Holy Eucharist, Rite II, quiet meditative worship with organ prelude, postlude and offertory solo. Join us in the historic, beautiful church for this hour of worship!
at 9:30 am – Family Worship, a lively, innovative service of Holy Eucharist with lots of singing, informal involvement of people of all ages, especially of young children and youth. Held in the Great Hall, the entire service is paperless.
at 10:30 am – Holy Eucharist includes beautiful and joyful hymns sung by the congregation and supported by our excellent choir. Singing is often accompanied by organ, keyboard and other instruments such as drums or stringed instruments. (see section on Music) Our goal is to sing joyfully and energetically as a congregation to the glory of God. We pray the Eucharistic service from the Book of Common Prayer, Rite II and from the more contemporary prayers from a new source called, “Enriching Our Worship.”
Nursery care begins at 9:15 am to Noon.
FIRST SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH, at 9:30 am is all parish worship called “First Sundays, Life Together at 9:30 am.” It is our way of gathering as one worshiping community; all three congregations together once a month in order to get to know each other, our newcomers and our guests.
At 9:30 am, join us for this service which includes Holy Eucharist, is specially geared for people of all ages, whether you are a life-long Episcopalian or a seeker. It is held in our historic church and we offer reserved seating for our families with small children and our friends with disabilities. Singing is fun and the sermon is interactive.
Also on the first Sunday of each Month at 8:00 am our Lay Worship Leaders officiate Morning Prayer in the Celtic Tradition in the church. This is 30-minutes of silence and prayer, loosely based on the order for morning prayer in Iona Abbey. It is designed to include long silences which begin and end with the ringing of a bell.
