General Convention Update  The General Convention of The Episcopal Church met in early July.  Meeting over ten days, the Houses of Bishops and Deputies reached conclusions in some areas and chose to defer decision making in other areas until further research could be conducted.  Included in the resolutions approved were appointment of a special task force charged with reform of our church to report the next General Convention, reorganization of the budget, a liturgy for same sex blessings, moving the Episcopal Church Center out of New York City into a more central location.  Other resolutions covered a wide range of topics.  It is reported that a notable aspect of the convention was the tone of conversations which were conducted in a respectful and thoughtful manner on these and other topics of concern.  I would like to gather those interested in learning more for a Forum after the 9:00 a.m. service on Sunday, August 26.  We will meet in the Parish Hall after some time spent sharing refreshments and conversation following the service.
